Role Summary 

Role -  Goods In Warehouse Supervisor

Site - Wigan Full Time

Hours Thurs 08.00-16.30 and Fridays 07.30-15.00

Salary bracket -  £25,000 – £27,500 per annum

Holiday -  21 days plus bank holidays

Key Duties/responsibilities:

Receiving and Inspection:

  • Supervise the receiving process for all incoming materials, ensuring accuracy and completeness of deliveries.
  • Responsible for maintaining the yard, ensuring it is safe at all times and escalating any risks’
  • Conduct thorough inspections to verify the quality and quantity of goods received, adhering to company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Chilled and Frozen stock adheres to temperature control and is put away in a timely manner, any deviation of this should be raised through the QA department.
  • Escalate non-conforming stock and / or suppliers to the Warehouse Manager and / or Purchasing Manager

Inventory Management:

  • Manage inventory control systems to accurately record received goods, update stock levels, and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Organize and optimize storage space, implementing efficient storage techniques for perishable and non-perishable items.
  • Ensuring FIFO is adhered to surround stock holding where practicable. Where it is not, this must be escalated with the details as to why the process cannot be adhered to and advised to Warehouse Manager and / or Purchasing Manager
  • Support the Stock Control Team to observe the 85% date life rule and escalate should stock reach this short shelf life threshold.

Team Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise the Warehouse team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Schedule and allocate tasks effectively, promoting teamwork, fairness and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Support in undertaking Return to Work Interview`s and other absence related instances.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency improvements within goods receiving and storage procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and streamline operations.
  • Compliance and Safety across site by always showing and supporting good manufacturing practices at all times.
  • Enforce safety guidelines and best practices, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or logistics environment, preferably in food manufacturing or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and warehouse operations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to process improvement.
