Zeelandia announces Derian House
Childrens hospice as
charity partner of the year (Wigan)

Zeelandia UK, part of the global baking ingredients manufacturer Royal Zeelandia Group, has announced a new charity of the year partnerships with Derian House Childrens Hospice.

The company, which is renowned for providing the highest quality bakery ingredients to the industrial, craft and in-store bakery sectors, prides itself on the close relationship it has with customers to provide product advice and create tailor-made developments and solutions.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility has always been at the heart of Zeelandia, and in 2019 the family run business introduced a new CSR strategy, with the UK team committing to regular fundraising activities through staff get togethers, cake sales, quizzes and more.

 

Most recently the team raised over £200 for Comic Relief and donated over £1,000 to local charities at Christmas. The leading bakery ingredients company has now selected a key charity partner based near their Flemings Zeelandia Factory in Wigan, which was acquired by the group in 2017.

Derian House Children’s Hospice looks after children and young people living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions (as well as their siblings, parents and grandparents).

 

The vital charity provides respite and end-of-life care to more than 400 children and young people across the North West. Care is free for families, but services cost £5million to run every year. With only 12 per cent of funding coming from the government, the charity relies heavily on the generosity of its supporters and corporate partners.

 

Zeelandia UK will supporting with various fundraising activities including a brave staff member who will be taking part in a charity Skydive later this year.

 

They also plan to bake some cakes for future Derian House fundraising events and to help celebrate some of the children’s birthdays.
