Role Purpose 

Experience in HGV Class 1 Driver to join our logistics team. This role involves yard shunting, local multi-drop deliveries, and back hauling operations. You’ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of goods between our depot, customers, and suppliers.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Raw material/FG movement between factory and external storage facilities.
  • Performing local deliveries to customers using curtain-siders.
  • Back hauling goods from suppliers or returns locations.
  • Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects.
  • Ensuring compliance with UK driving laws, tachograph regulations, and Working Time Directives.
  • Maintaining accurate records of vehicle movements and delivery logs.
  • Liaising with warehouse and transport teams to coordinate loading/unloading.
  • Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures.
  • Contribute to DEI, sustainability and wellbeing initiatives relevant to the role.
  • Attend and contribute to required meetings

 

Skills, experience & qualifications

Essential

·       Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) license.

·       Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.

·       Minimum 6 months HGV driving experience preferred.

·       Experience in shunting operations or yard driving.

·       Good geographical knowledge of the local area.

·       Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·       Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.

Meetings & Communication

Must attend:

  • 1:1 with line manager monthly, H&S/Toolbox talks [per rota], H&S Meetings as required - training/refresher sessions per schedule.

Health & Safety

  • Work safely and follow training, method statements, SSOW and risk assessments at all times.
  • Report hazards, near-misses and incidents immediately; support investigations (incl. RIDDOR where applicable).
  • Use, maintain and store PPE correctly; keep work area safe and tidy.
  • Complete all mandatory H&S training and refreshers on time.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings and H&S Committee activity as required.
